Eighty lawyers on Friday, March 18, represented Senate presidente, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, at his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Kanu Agabi (SAN), Saraki’s lawyer disclosed this while making his complaints at the court.
On Friday, March 18, he was represented by 66 lawyers, among whom were seven senior advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
Meanwhile, there is a great reduction to the amount of lawmakers who came to pledge their solidarity to the Senate President.
As against the 50 senators and 81 senators who accompanied Saraki during his first and second trial respectively, only 18 showed up for the court hearing which include Sam Anyawu representing Imo east senatorial district, Ibrahim Gobir representing Sokoto east senatorial district and Andy Uba representing Anambra south senatorial district.
Others include Stella Oduah representing Anambra north senatorial district, Rafiu Ibrahim representing Kwara south senatorial district, Ben Murray Bruce representing Bayelsa state senatorial district among others.
However, the hearing of the motion to stop the trial is ongoing at the time of filing this report.
Saraki has been charged to court with 13 counts of false declarations when he was the governor of Kwara state. His case has been ongoing since September 22, 2015.
It would be recalled that the apex court on Friday, February 5, dismissed an appeal by Saraki to stop his trial paving the way for the continuation of the case at the CCT.
