President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the details of the 2016 budget back to the country’s National assembly, demanding adjustments to the budget.
The 2016 budget has been delayed for months, as President Buhari had to withdraw the N6 trillion budget due to an unrealistic oil price assumption and flaws in the draft.
The budget was first submitted by the president on December 22, 2015 before a joint session of the National Assembly and was approved on March 23.
However, only highlights were transmitted to the president after the March 23 passage.
Buhari had also said he would not sign the budget in a hurry, but would critically review the document before assenting to it.
The Senate, earlier this month, finally sent the full budget to the presidency.
However the controversy in the budget stirred up again when the executive accused the Senate of removing Lagos-Calabar rail project from the budget.
The President has now returned the budget pointing out areas of concern in the document and demanding adjustment.
This was confirmed by the spokesperson of House of Representatives, Abdurazaq Namdas,
who refused to mention the “grey areas” saying they would be made known to Nigerians in “due course”.
