“We are here to appreciate the governor for his support and I can tell you that we were fully supported by the state government. Our eldest son must have said what was quoted in the papers before the event.

“The lunch of Adekunle Fajuyi Education Trust was to support the widows and children of our fallen soilders who lost their lives in battle and also insurgency while fighting to protect Nigeria. We are working together with the National Army officers Wives Association, NAOWA and the military to ensure that some of these children who are very needy and the widows can be supported and help them in their predicament.

Fayose Spending State’s Money On Private Court Cases – APC

Taiwo Olatunbosun, Public Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of allegedly using the state’s fund to finance his legal matters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Taiwo in statement in Ado-Ekiti, said that the party was in possession of fact that the N22 million spent to charter aircraft that conveyed his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome from Lagos to Akure airport was allegedly taken from the state’s treasury.

However in a swift reaction to the allegation, Governor Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi said “that kind of allegation can only come from the dirty minds of APC members in Ekiti.

“There is nothing like that and if they have strong evidence, the EFCC which has become a department of the APC is there for them to do their bidding.

“The APC should stop disturbing sensibility of Nigerians and face squarely the myriads of problems confronting the people”, Adelusi said.

The captain made the revelation while being questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, last week.

The report by punch quoted an investigator as saying, “The pilot told us that on June 17, 2014, he was instructed by his company around 7am to prepare the aircraft for an 8.30am flight from Lagos to Akure. He was informed that the client was Obanikoro. He said he along with his colleagues including one Capt. Olubiyi Famuyiwa got on the plane.

“He said Obanikoro’s aides arrived at the tarmac with some bullion vans and started offloading the contents which were in big green tarpaulin bags. He informed them that the aircraft could only carry about eight or nine bags due to its small size.

“The pilot said at that point, Obanikoro intervened and began pleading with him to allow them load all the bags on the plane but he refused and then the minister, his ADC and a friend boarded the plane and the aircraft departed.

“The pilot said on getting to the Akure airport, some soldiers received them and the bags were offloaded and put into a bullion van. He noted that the plane returned empty to Lagos.

“He said that the next day, he returned to Akure and then flew Obanikoro to Abuja with his Aide-de-Camp, Lt. Adewale.”

The governor in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, described the claim by the federal government that the probe panel only looked into procurement and contracts awarded by the military between 2011-2015 because documents regarding procurement from 2007 to 2010 were not available as an indication of his support for corruption.

The statement read “it is now obvious to the entire world that anyone that is in President Buhari’s good books can never be adjudged as corrupt even if such a person is caught looting the entire money in Nigeria’s treasury.”
