But it turns out that money might not be too great a way to achieve happiness - and choosing more time off might be a better idea.
A new UCLA study found that people who picked having more time over more money tended to be happier.
The researchers asked 1,266 Americans if they would prefer to have more time off, or more money.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, most people chose money - with 60.9% opting for cash, and 39.1% opting for time.
But in a psychological quiz, the people who chose time - offering various reasons such as spending more time with their children, or studying - tended to be happier.
The researchers wrote, ‘Although the majority of people chose more money, choosing more time was associated with greater happiness.’
