Uchenna Okeke, A 26-year-old trader in Lagos,
appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates' Court for allegedly beating up a policeman The
trader who is a resident of Oluwalimu Street, Ikeja, Lagos, is being tried for
breach of peace and assault. Insp.
George Nwosu, the lead prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the
offences on June 11 at Ikeja, Lagos. The
prosecutor said the accused unlawfully assaulted a policeman in uniform attached to MAN Centre Police station
for preventing him from killing his girlfriend.
Okeke pleaded innocence of the offences and was granted bail in the sum
of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The
Magistrate, Mr A.A Adesanya, adjourned the case till July 6 for mention.
