A gunman entered a crowded Gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday morning June 12, opened fire, and killed at least 50 people in cold blood.
As at this moment, the final death toll has not been ascertained but it was reported by the US authorities that this shooting is "the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States of America", leaving 50 persons dead and 53 more, seriously injured.
The killer was identified as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old security guard who was born in New York to Afghan parents.
At the time of this report, the likely cause of attack on the Gay nightclub had not been ascertained but it was reliably gathered that the people in the club were majorly Latino and the nightclub was celebrating "Latin Night".
The ex wife of the suspected killer claimed her brief marriage with the Shooter was marked by domestic violence as he often beat her up..
A state of emergency has been declared on the city and as President Obama puts it, the rampage is “an act of terror and an act of hate.”
It was also reliably gathered that it took the intervention of the SWAT POLICE team to rescue those held hostage to safety when the police team stormed the nightclub and killed the shooter after a siege that lasted for three-hours!
As at Monday next morning, Investigations are still on-going but a state of emergency that was declared earlier by the city Mayor was still on!
