Paula Beare, from Queensland, wanted to offer a lesson in privacy and security on Facebook - and posted her note to see ‘how far this message will go’.
But she probably didn’t expect it to go quite as far as it did - it was shared 73,000 times, and Beare said that she received 500 friend requests from people she didn’t know.
The message said, ‘Next week I need to present to the Year 9 students about cyber safety and I wish to see how far this message will go based on my account’s security settings. Please help me by sharing this message as far as you can.’
She said afterwards, ‘I have a great hook for my lesson today, thank you everyone for your assistance. When marking dies down I will pull the results into a paper.’
