SCHOOL APOLOGIZES FOR HITLER AND ISIS QUOTES IN OFFICIAL YEARBOOK

‘Be just: the unjust never prosper. Be valiant. Keep your word, even to your enemies,’ is exactly the sort of quote to inspire young people.

There’s just one problem - it’s from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of Isis, and therefore not exactly ideal for a school yearbook.

An American school, Quaker Valley High School in Pennsylvania, has had to apologise after parents saw the yearbook contained quotes from al-Baghdadi, Hitler and Stalin.

‘Jokers’ had inserted the Hitler quote, ‘Words build bridges into unexplored regions,’ and the Stalin quote, ‘Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, so why would we let them have ideas?’ into the yearbook - and attributed them to their authors.

The school has now offered refunds to students - or stickers to cover up the offending quotes for anyone who wishes to keep theirs.

The school district said in a statement, ‘This is a regrettable mistake, as the school district would never knowingly condone this messaging in a school-sponsored publication.

‘We are well aware of the emotions this has conjured in many of our students and their families, and for that we are sorry.’
