Leicester
City are set to be rewarded for their fairytale season as they lift the
Premier League trophy after their game against Everton today.
Thousands
of fans partied from early in the day outside the club's King Power
Stadium as they prepared to celebrate their first top flight title.
The
crowd at the stadium included hundreds of Italians, who had travelled
over to share in the success of their popular countryman, Leicester
manager Claudio Ranieri.
Opera
star Andrea Bocelli - a friend of Ranieri - will also perform before the
sell-out game, which has seen touts reportedly demanding as much as
£15,800 for a pair of tickets to see history being made.
Bocelli's
sound engineer Andrea Taglia told Sky News the star had promised the
Foxes' Italian manager he would sing for the fans if the club overcame
5,000-1 odds to win the league.
He
said: "It's surprising for everyone, but not for them (Leicester). It
is really amazing that a small city can get through so many big clubs.
"The airport was full of Italians, it was really surprising."
In
Swinford, outside Leicester, landlord Brian Priest was having his pub,
The Chequers, painted blue and white in honour of the team's success.
He
told Sky News: "It was a bet I made a few months ago to some of the
customers, that if Leicester won the league, we'd paint the pub blue.
It's already white so we're just putting a few stripes on it to make it
look beautiful."
Mr
Swinford said some of his regulars were now making plans to travel to
Europe next season when Leicester join clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus
and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Leicester
secured the title - and made headlines around the world - on Monday,
when Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Midlands club have also announced details of a victory parade through the city, which will take place on Monday, 16 May.
The
team will travel in an open-top bus from the city centre to Victoria
Park, where captain Wes Morgan will present the Premier League trophy to
thousands of supporters.
