'I WAS UNDER SERIOUS INFLUENCE DURING TINUBU'S TRIAL' - CCT CHAIR, UMAR DANLADI

The chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar, on Tuesday, admitted that he was “under serious influence” during the false asset trial of former governor of Lagos state and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Danladi, who stated this during the resumed trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, He also said the court was able to dispense justice despite the “influence.”

It would be recalled that the Tinubu was discharged and acquitted by the CCT in 2011. He was docked before the tribunal for operating foreign accounts while he served as the governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007.

“It is certainly unreasonable that all the 100 counsel of the defence will have a bite at the cherry,” Umar said. “Kanu Agabi should continue to conduct the cross examination in this case.

“I want to say that in case of Bola Tinubu we were under serious influence, but we did what we had to do and discharged him. So we must be fair to ourselves not to delay this trial.”

It is if he’s under any influence now.
