FINALLY, ELECTRICITY PROBLEM TO GO AWAY IN NIGERIA [SEE DETAILS]



The Nigerian Government has signed a $9 million deal with the United States government to improve the performance of its Electricity distribution companies (DisCos).

According to reports, the deal was signed by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle on behalf of USAID, Managing Director, Benin DisCo, Olufunke Osibodu; Board Chairman, Eko DisCo, Charles Momoh; and Board Chairman, Abuja DisCo. Shehu Malami.

It is aimed at improving the power supply in Nigeria following years of epileptic power supply in the country.

The partnership, which is a yearly agreement, is also expected to provide technical support to the distribution companies.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola who was represented by one of his Special Advisers, Lanre Akinsola described the pact as another giant leap towards Nigeria’s aim of providing an uninterrupted power source.

He also said it was important for the country to diversify its power generation to improve its ailing economy.
