THIS COUNTRY HAS DECLARED FRIDAY A HOLIDAY - HERE IS WHY

It’s safe to say it’s an idea which could catch on with workers everywhere - making every Friday a holiday.

In Venezuela, the idea is a response to a shortage of electricity caused by a prolonged drought.

President Nicolas Maduro has now designated every Friday in the months of April and May as a non-working holiday, as part of a 60-day plan to conserve energy.

Shopping malls and hotels will also be asked to generate their own electricity for nine hours per day after water levels hit a critical threshold at the country’s hydro power plants.
Maduro said, ‘This plan for 60 days, for two months, will allow the country to get through the most difficult period with the most risk.

‘I call on families, on the youth, to join this plan with discipline, with conscience and extreme collaboration to confront this extreme situation.’
