Dipstick Cristiano Ronaldo's idea of a romantic night... is an evening in front of the telly watching Only Fools and Horses with cups of tea.

There was no fine dining when the Real Madrid player plied Gemma Atkinson with cups of tea on their first date, as they cosied up watching Del Boy and Rodney on TV.


“It was really, really glamorous,” the actress said sarcastically.

“We just went to my house and drank cups of tea and watched Only Fools and Horses . Genuinely.”

The British sitcom set in Peckham is famous for Del Boy’s putdowns of brother Rodney, who he labels a “plonker” and a “dipstick”.

Del Boy’s other catchphrases include: “This time next year we’ll be millionaires.”

Ronaldo, who earns £274,000 per week, has been a millionaire since his early 20s. Last year, he was said to be worth £152million.

Now, 30-year-old Gemma - who dated the footballer back in 2007 - admits she is not sure whether he still enjoys watching the show.

“I don’t know if he’s into it now, but it was on the telly,” she told Manchester’s Key 103 Radio. “Only Fools and Horses and cups of tea, he seemed to enjoy it then but I’m going back about six/seven years.”

Gemma previously refused big money deals to tell all about their brief fling, but said back in 2010: “With Cristiano it was mad, because everywhere he went he was followed by photographers.

“When we did split up I got offered so much money to speak about him and I didn’t want that.” She said.

Ronaldo, 31, split from model girlfriend Irina Shayk , 30, last year.
