COURT REJECTS REQUEST TO TRY DASUKI IN THE DARK

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the application of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki to stop his trial.

Dasuki is facing a 4-count charge of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms brought against him by the Department of State Services.

The four counts preferred against the former NSA before Justice Adeniyi Ademola are unrelated to the two separate sets of charges ‎bordering on alleged diversion of arms funds pending against Dasuki and others before two judges of the Federal Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

In his application, Muhammed Diri, counsel to the Department of State Services had prayed the court to not only mask the witnesses, but also to hide their identities from the public.

He also asked the court to only allow credited journalists to witness the trial, and to restrict members of the public from witnessing it.

But the judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola held that there were no strong facts to warrant the protection of witnesses in the trial, Tv360 gathered.
