REPS TO IGP: Fish Out Killers Of Plateau Monarch- Accuses Buhari of Complacency

The House of Representatives, have directed Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to apprehend those behind the gruesome murder of His Majesty, the Saf Ron Kulere, Paramount Ruler of Bokkos and Chairman, Council of Chiefs, Bokkos LGA.

Also, Plateau State caucus of the House of Representatives have accused President Buhari of complacency in the midst of gruesome murder of Nigerians, especially indigenes of Plateau State, alleging that there was a deliberate attempt to erase the people of Plateau State from the surface of the earth.

Solomon Bulus Maren, representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau State, sponsored a motion on matter of national urgent importance said, “First, it was the Makai Forof, Dah Ali Magaji sometimes in January 2016, the second was the District Head of Manguna, Saf Anjong Adake who was the secretary to the council of Chiefs, Bokkos Local Government Area.

“And worst of it, is the one that occurred just yesterday (Monday), the head of the council and the paramount ruler of Bokkos people who was brutally killed by unscrupulous elements.”

He alleged that in all the cases mentioned above, there had been no security intervention, either to "stop the killings or bring the culprits to book.’’

“We want to call the world as a whole to look at what is happening in this area. It is good we place it on record. This is not just murder, but an attempt to erase us from the surface of the earth. We have called on the youths at home to keep calm.”

Timothy Golu also said: “It is a wicked and brutal killing of 78 years old paramount ruler. This is another dimension of the act of terrorism we are witnessing in Plateau State.

“Right now, there is tension and if nothing is done, it will escalate, we are tired of what is happening, we want to hear a very strong statement from the President.”

IGP IDRIS: ARASE STOLE 24 POLICE VEHICLES – ARASE REFUTES CLAIMS

Ibrahim Idris, the acting Inspector-General of Police has accused his predecessor, Solomon Arase of leaving the force with 24 police vehicles, claiming that seven retired Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, also made away with several cars belonging to the force.

The acting IGP who made this revelation while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, said he had written Arase to return the cars.

In his words,: “So, what I am telling you is that I have signed a directive to my SIP (I have a special investigation panel, I set it up). It is going to investigate all the vehicle purchases, contributions to the police and the distribution of those vehicles in the last three years; we are going to look into that.

“When I took over, there was no vehicle, even the vehicle I would use. I discovered the last IG went away with 24 vehicles; the DIGs, some of them eight, some of them seven. The IG’s vehicles included two BMW 7 series, one armoured; and he left me with an old car.

“The last time I followed the President with it, he was asking me, ‘what are you doing with this old car’ because if you see the headlight, the thing has changed colour, which means they parked it and rains and everything had fallen on it, but the new ones that were bought, he (Arase) went with all of them; they are part of the 24.

“I wrote back to him and said, we have a policy that says when a policeman retires, if you are an IG, AIG, a CP, you are entitled to some vehicles; please, the extra, return it. Four vehicles are enough for an average human being, but what will you even do with four vehicles; but he took 24 vehicles, including two BMW cars.

“I wrote to him (Arase), I wrote to the DIGs.”

However, Arase was quick to deny it, calling the accusation a "malicious propaganda ".

He said, “What am I going to do with 24 cars? Do I want to open a car shop? This is a malicious accusation. There are ways of verifying issues rather than engaging in media propaganda.”
