OKOCHA'S HOPE OF COACHING EAGLES DASHED

Former Super Eagles player, Austin Jay Jay Okocha's desire to become the next Super Eagles coach may have evaporated into thin air as no pointer currently indicates the possibility of his emergence.

According to Sports Vanguard, it was gathered that although the yet-to-be-signed new foreign coach would have loved to have the legend as his assistant, the NFF would not approve of it.

A source from the NFF secretariat told Sports Vanguard that the crew of Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf would continue with the new coach whenever he arrives.

“Okocha has shown a lot of interest in the job and has openly said he would be happy to serve his country in any other capacity after an illustrious career as a player.

"But he can’t get it,” our source said, adding that the football house had already decided on Amuneke and Salisu.

This might have been a foreboding that Okocha’s desire of coaching the team that brought him to global limelight could as well be an impossibility. At least for now.

However, the incoming coach may insist on having the former midfield maestro among his back room staff.
