GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA REDUCES CIVIL SERVANTS' SALARIES BY 30 PERCENT

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Imo state government recently reached a decision in which the government overturned its decision to sack over 3,000 workers in the various parastatals in the state.

Information gathered revealed that the NLC consented to the use of 70 percent of the total revenue accruing to the state for the payment of salaries and allowances of workers in the state civil service thereby reducing workers' salaries by 30 percent.

The 18-man state and labour joint committee in the state has unanimously agreed to pay salary earners in the state 70 percent of their salaries across board while making reservations for pension.
