The
National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
Olisa Metuh was Wednesday re-arraigned before a Federal High Court in
Abuja on a fresh seven counts charge of alleged corruption.
In the fresh plea,
Metuh was alleged to have received the sum of N400 million through his
company Destra Investments Ltd from the office of the former National
Security Adviser (NSA), retired Col. Sambo Dasuki in December, 2014.
Metuh however
pleaded not guilty. Thus, his defence team including: Onyechi Ikpeazu,
Ifedayo Adedipe, Chris Uche and Emeka Etiaba, all Senior Advocates of
Nigeria asked the court to retain the bail terms earlier granted him.
Also, Metuh’s
counsel Ikpeazu has indicated intention to apply for
a-no-case-submission to ask the court to quash the criminal charges
based on section 257 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act
(ACJA).

Prosecuting counsel
Sylvanus Tahir, who did not object to the application, submitted that
it is the right of the accused person to make it.
In his ruling,
Justice Okon Abang approved the ‘no-case-submission’ by a written
address. He ordered the defence to file and serve the prosecution the
address same day.
He further ruled
that upon service, the prosecution will reply within three days, while
if there is need for the defence to further reply on points of law, they
may do so within 24 hours from the time of service.
He adjourned the case to February 26 for adoption of the addresses.
