Amnesty International Condemns Reinstatement Of General Accused Of War Crimes
Amnesty International has condemned the decision to reinstate Major
General Ahmadu Mohammed. Major General Mohammed, along with 8 other
military officials, was responsible for the deaths of 8,000 detainees.

The military official commanded 7 Division when the military executed
640 detainees following an attack by Boko Haram on the barrack on March
14, 2014. The organization has argued that Major General Mohammed’s
actions amounted to war crimes
Amnesty International issued a report over the summer entitled Stars on their shoulders, blood on their hands: War crimes committed by the Nigerian military.
The report exposed a wide range of human rights abuses committed
against Nigerians during the war against Boko Haram by the Nigerian
Army
Following the report’s publication, President Muhammadu Buhari
personally promised that the military officials implicated in the war
crimes would be investigated. Thus far, however, an investigation has
yet to begin

John A.H. Ewansiha, Major General Obida T Ethan, Brigadier General
Austin O. Edokpayi, Brigadier General Rufus O. Bamigboye, Lt. General
Azubuike Ihejirika, Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim, Air Chief Marshal Alex
Badeh, and Lt. General Ken Minimah
