Sanusi Blames Jonathan For Loss Of Free Palestinian State, Asks Buhari To Support

Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, during a one-day international conference on Palestine, has called on the federal government to support free Palestinian state.

Sanusi said this at the conference with the theme, “Palestine question; Issues, Challenges and Actions,” organised by the Center for Promotion of Shari’a in collaboration with Jama’atut Tajdidil Islamiya and the Afro-Middle East Center, South Africa held in Kano.

The Emir blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for the failure of Palestinian bid to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories at the UN Security Council.

“For decades Nigeria has been in the support of free Palestine until during the Jonathan era when Nigeria played a vital role in the loss of Palestinian bid to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories at the UN Security Council.

“I believe it is time for Nigeria to revisit its stand on Palestine”, the Emir said.

CAN Crisis: Northern States Reject Ayokunle, Says Maina

The chairman of Bauchi State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Joshua Maina has claimed that the 19 Northern states have rejected the emergence of Dr. Samson Ayokunle as the President of the association.

Rev. Joshua who disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, said: “All the 19 Northern states were edged out of the process of the CAN President’s election. We suspect that there was connivance between the outgoing CAN President and some individuals are at the helm of affairs of the association.

“It is unfortunate that the former CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, manipulated the entire process and ensured that his deputy Rev. Dr. Samson Ayokunle succeeded him.

“If there is no skeleton in their cupboards why are they evading court order regarding the legal process of CAN election?”

He said: “We are not fools because 19 Northern states had supported somebody of Igbo extraction as CAN President. We are aware that other regions were later co-opted to join CAN, which has its roots in Jos.

“Out of the 30 years of CAN’s existence, the North has occupied the President’s position for only three years and we feel this is an injustice.”

TAKE YOUR INAUGURAL SPEECH, MANIFESTO AND START AFRESH – CARDINAL OKOGIE URGES BUHARI

Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has urged the leader of the country to start afresh in his leadership of the nation. The Archbishop Emeritus speaking on his 80th birthday celebration which took place at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, Okojie said he should not take the Goodwill of Nigerians for granted. Cardinal Okojie said, If President Buhari wants to make a quick turn back, he should take his inaugural speech and the All Progressive Congress, APC, manifesto, study them and then start afresh. That is my advice, he stated, adding that the Nigeria is in need of leaders who would unite and not divide the country.

Continuing, he also said that Nigeria is in need of self- sacrificing leaders who would pay attention to the needs of the people. He said, At this stage of my life, I can only advise and admonish our policy makers, especially in the education sector, that are now battling with the lives of innocent children, to allow education to flourish; for if education does not flourish, our country cannot flourish.

You have already seen it in some parts of the country. We have seen it in some of our childrens behaviours, Okojie added.
