If Boko Haram Kills Christian, Burn Churches, We’ll Slay Muslims, Raze Mosques – N-Delta Militant Group

The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders, NDRC, in a statement by spokesperson of the group, W O I Izon-Ebi, on Saturday, vowed that it would carry out reprisal attacks on Muslims and mosques in the Niger Delta region if Boko Haram kills Christians and burn down churches in the north, as threatened by its new leader, Abu Masab el Barnaw, last Wednesday.

The group said: “We want to alert Nigerians and the world that the Islamization plot has been proven by the Boko Haram new leader Abu Masab el Barnaw that their new mission is to kill all Christians and burn down all churches.”

“But, we want to warn them that we, the Niger Delta youths, in this 21st century will not accept killing of innocent Christians or burning of churches. That if they try it in the north or any part of Nigeria, we the Niger Delta youths will not see any Muslim or mosque in the Niger Delta,” it said.

Its words: “We are not against President Buhari granting the Boko Haram amnesty if their sole purpose is to own an Islamic caliphate in the north, but they should mot shift it to the Niger Delta.”

“All we know and want is resource control and true federalism, if truly they believe in one Nigeria, and are working harder to build a prosperous One Nigeria, let them shift their Operation Crocodile Tears to the Fulani herdsmen and the Boko Haram that is threatening the unity and peace of Nigeria,” the group asserted.

NDRC called on President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate that leadership as the current leader and the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, just as former President Goodluck Jonathan showed by visiting him (Buhari) to indicate that he believes in the unity of Nigeria and was not part of the planned declaration of the Niger Delta Republic.

Boko Haram: Abubakar Shekau Releases Audio Message, Says ‘still In Charge’

Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram's allegedly ousted leader, in an audio message on Thursday said he is still around despite his reported removal as head of the Nigeria -based jihadist group by the Islamic State (IS). "People should know we are still around. We will never cause any discord among the people, we will live by the Koran," Shekau said in a 10-minute audio message.

"This is our stand and we remain in our capacity as Jama'atu Ahlissunnah Lidda'awati Wal Jihad," he said using the Islamic name for the hardline jihadist group. His voice was recognised by an AFP journalist familiar with previous messages he has posted on social media. It was also confirmed as Shekau's voice by Berlin-based expert Yan St-Pierre of the Modern Security Consulting Group (Mosecon).

"The person who posted on the internet is a very reliable source," he said. Shekau's audio message was released in response to reports that he had been purportedly replaced by Sheikh Abu Musab al-Barnawi, a former IS spokesman. In the latest edition of IS's online weekly magazine Al-Naba, which was published on Tuesday, there was an interview with Barnawi in which he was introduced as Boko Haram's new leader.

BREAKING: Isis Announces New Leadership For Boko Haram, Says Shekau Replaced

Islamic State Jihadist group, ISIS, has announced a change of leadership in the Boko Haram militants group.

The terrorist group said the leadership for its West African branch, Boko Haram, has been adjusted, BBC is reporting.

The announcement was made known in the latest issue of their magazine.

The magazine featured its first interview with Abu Musab al-Barnawi, previous spokesman for the Nigerian-based Islamists who now replaces Abubakar Shekau, even though, it was not disclosed what has become of the group’s former leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Military Will Restore Total Peace To North East – Buratai

Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, while addressing troops undergoing training at the Nigerian Army Special Forces Training School at Buni Yadi, Yobe, assured that the military will restore full peace to the North East in line with the desire of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buratai charged the troops to sustain the momentum of ongoing counter insurgency operations to flush out the insurgents.

He said, “Operation Lafia Dole’ has entered a critical stage. You must sustain the momentum; there is no going back

“There is no time to waste. We want full restoration of peace in the North East. That is what the president wants’’, the chief of army staff said.

Buratai later told newsmen that he was in Buni Yadi to see how the troops undergoing the Special Forces training were faring.

“We know the importance of this place – Buni Yadi. This is the route they (insurgents) passed through to other parts of the North East and even Plateau in the North Central.

“It is better for us to have dominated and taken over the place’’, he said, and assured the troops of their welfare and logistics need, including required equipment to prosecute the war.

Buni Yadi is the headquarter of the 27 Task Force Brigade of the Nigeria Army.

PHOTOS: Troops Ambush Boko Haram Terrorists In Pulka

Army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, in a statement, said troops on blocking position in Pulka on Friday ambushed and killed two fleeing Boko Haram terrorists while others escaped with gun shot wounds.

“The troops also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number S 77411, a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number FN 131908, one Motorcycle, 1 Bicycle and 5 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle magazines.

“Other items recovered from the terrorists include 1 AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 67 rounds of 7.62mm linked (NATO) ammunition and Tecno brand of mobile telephone handset with NEXTTEL SIM card, as well as sacks of foodstuffs.

“The troops have continued their routine operations maintaining vigilance to prevent escaping Boko Haram terrorists out of Sambisa forest through that axis,” the statement read.

Many Wounded As Boko Haram Attacks UN Team, Soldiers In Bama

Daily Post exclusively reports that a team of United Nations, UN officials, escorted by heavily armed soldiers were attacked yesterday by Boko Haram.

The officials, working for the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, were ambushed at an area close to Bama, under Konduga local government area, less than 30 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital of Borno state.

The UN team, it was learnt, and other donor agencies were moving food items and drugs to an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Bama on an intervention mission

“Boko Haram fighters numbering over 50, armed with anti aircraft gun (machine gun mounted on open truck), suddenly emerged just after Kawuri village and rained bullets on the UN motorcade,” said the source.

“One of the officials confided in me that the soldiers saved the day. They fought with everything they had until Boko Haram retreated into the bush. This would have been a great embarrassment to Nigeria.

“Four of the soldiers and and driver of one of the UN vehicle was hit. The person beside the driver took control of the vehicle. If not, it would have been disastrous for the occupants.

“Some officials sustained minor injuries, no lives lost. All survivors are presently at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital”, the source stated.

In a statement sent in by Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman, he noted that “Troops returning from Bama on humanitarian escort duty, were ambushed enroute Maiduguri by suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in Meleri village, a few kilometres from Kawuri.

“The gallant troops, however, successfully cleared the ambush and exploited up to Afunori.

“Unfortunately, 2 soldiers and 3 civilians were wounded in the ambush, among whom were staff of United Nations agencies and other international humanitarian organizations.

“The wounded have been evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri and they are in stable condition.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to sympathize with our wounded colleagues, the United Nations and other Non-governmental organizations whose personnel were also injured in this sad incident.

“We wish to reiterate our determination and commitment to ensuring safety and security in the North East and safeguarding the lives of all persons.”

Reacting, Biodun Banire, Public Information Assistant, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told DAILY POST, also confirmed the incident.

“I just got the information, there was an attack. Our officials and soldiers were attacked but no casualty.

“All responding to treatment. I can’t say more than this. I will provide an update later”.
