Quit Politics If You Are Selfish – Jonathan Tells politicians

Immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan at a press Conference in Lusaka, Zambia, has admonished selfish leaders against seeking political positions.

The former President urged politicians contesting various positions in the country’s August 11 general elections to accept results of the poll and avoid violence.

Jonathan is in Zambia as the Head of the African Union Election Observers.

His comment was contained in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze.

According to Jonathan, “Politicians going in for elective positions should be open-minded about the outcome because they can either win or lose. Politicians who want to play meaningful roles in governance should realise that it is not about them. Those who care only about themselves should quit politics and begin to manage personal businesses.

“Our states are not private enterprises. You cannot be interested in governance without sufficient interest in the affairs of the people. So the interest of the country should come first as politicians tick their priority boxes.

“This also requires politicians to accept the outcome of genuine elections because of the interest of the people. You cannot instigate violence and mayhem on the one hand and pretend that you are fighting for the people on the other. It does not make any sense to get involved in bloodshed, destroy properties, frustrate businesses and collapse the economy in order to win elections. Our advice is to put public interest above other expectations by accepting the results of elections.”

Amaechi Urges Ecowas Communities To Unite In Fighting Natural Disasters

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Honorable Minister of Transportation, during the 12th meeting of the Committee of Directors of National Meteorological Services and the Council of Ministers in-charge of National Meteorological Services of ECOWAS member countries held in Abuja, on Friday, urged all to unite in addressing the challenges associated with climate change and reducing the magnitude of casualties involved in the occurrence of natural disasters.

While commending the ECOWAS Commission for a successful event, Amaechi said: "Since weather does not recognize or respect political boundaries, we should also plan and act in a collective and collaborative manner across national boundaries to tackle the climate related challenges such as recurrent drought,desertification and floods that cut across our political boundaries.

"The disaster risks associated with these extreme weather phenomena could be drastically reduced through the provision and timely dissemination of accurate meteorological early warning information.This is among the primary responsibilities of National Meteorological Services," Amaechi said.

"It is regrettable that some of the National Meteorological Services lack basic instruments for weather observation and monitoring as well facilities for processing and storing meteorological data.

“Extreme weather events such as thunderstorms, dust storms, gusty winds, floods, ocean surges, coastal and gully erosion and drought and desertification on our region has continued to increase in intensity and frequency. The resultant effect on society and economy has been increased poverty, disease and underdevelopment.

"Apart from natural disasters the sub-region also contends with challenges of fast growing population, conflicts as well as forced migration of persons. Some of the direct consequences of this population explosion are unplanned settlements, rapid urbanization, deforestation, pollution and these have exacerbated the pressure on the already depleted resources such as agricultural land, potable water, adequate energy and affordable shelter for all citizens.

“We need to make our agricultural practices as well as infrastructural development more resilient to extreme weather. This is a task before you as experts in meteorology.

“As you finalize discussions on the ECOWAS meteorology programme document for adoption I therefore urge you to ensure that all these weather and climate related issues that threaten lives and constitute impediments to the rapid economic development of our sub-region are adequately addressed," Amaechi stated.

Again, Jonathan Leads AU Election Observer Mission To Zambia

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's immediate past President is to lead the African Union Elections Observation Mission, AUEOM, to the Zambian general elections scheduled take place on October 11, 2016.

Recall that former President Jonathan was named to lead a 33-nation observer mission to the Sunday, October 25, 2015 General Election held in Tanzania.

A statement posted on AU’s website yesterday read: “The Chairperson of the AUC has approved the deployment of African Union Elections Observation Mission, AUEOM, to the General Election scheduled to take place in the Republic of Zambia on October 11, 2016.

“The deployment of the AUEOM will take place in two phases. The first phase comprised the deployment of long term election experts and took place from July 14 to August 22, 2016 and is made up of 10 observers."

“For the first time, the AU long term experts include election/ legal political/media/campaign analysts.

“The objective is ensure that the AUEOM approaches its work with added professionalism and factual analysis of the legal, political, electoral, media and campaign aspects of the electoral process in Zambia.

“At the second phase of the Mission, the long term experts will to be joined by Short Term observers from the August 1 to 15, 2016.

“The Short Term Mission will be headed by Goodluck Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The AUEOM draws its mandate from various African Union instruments, most importantly: (a) the AU Guidelines for Elections Observation and Monitoring Missions, 2002; (b) the OUA/AU Declaration on Principles Governing Democratic Elections in Africa, 2002; African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, 1981, and (c) African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, 200), among others.

“The objectives of the Mission is (a) to provide an accurate and impartial reporting or assessment of the quality of the 25th October General Elections in the United Republic of Tanzania, including the degree to which the conduct of the elections meets regional, continental and international standards for democratic elections; (b) to offer recommendations for improvement of future elections based on the findings; and, and (c) to demonstrate AU’s interest to support Tanzania’s elections and democratisation process to ensure that the conduct of genuine elections contributes to the consolidation of democratic governance, peace and stability in Tanzania in particular and the East African sub-region in general.”

He Wanted To Emulate Jesus – Family Member Of Pastor Who Died After 30 Days Dry Fasting

Alfred Ndlovu, a popular South African pastor, has died of malnutrition after he fasted and prayed for 30 days, BuzzSouthAfricaNews reports.

Before his adventure, the 44-year-old pastor was said to have disclosed he wanted to embark on a journey of no food-no-water to emulate Jesus Christ’s 40 days and 40 nights fasting.

He allegedly left home for the spiritual journey on 17th of June and he took to the bush to conduct prayers.

Speaking on his demise, a close family relative was quoted to have said: “He was a very spiritual man. It’s unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month, we got the sad news of his death. He could not reach the 40 days, he died on the 30th day.

AMAZON: Rosemary Amposah, A Female Welder, Tells Her Story

UNICEF shared this inspiring story of a young female Welder, Rosemary Amposah from Bechem, Ghana.

"My mother said I should become a policewoman, a nurse or a doctor. She said those are the jobs that people respect," Rosemary said.

"When I left high school, there was very little to do. I worked at a filling station selling petrol but had very little fulfillment.

I always asked myself, what if this company collapses or the owner decides to sack me? My father brought me here to learn welding. My mother hated the idea and always compares me with my sister who went into nursing training. But my dad supports me.

Everybody says it’s a man’s job. In my class, there are fifteen boys and I was the first girl to join them. I walk a very long distance to get to school and each time, I get someone who passes a negative comment. Like the last time, one man saw me and said if I continue with this job I can’t get married and it would be difficult to give birth.I think they are trying to pull me down but I’m not interested."

HORROR: Man Grows Breasts After Sex With Neighbour's Wife (Photos)

According to The Nairobian, a popular Kenyan Newspaper, a 39-year-old man, James Mutua, has suddenly developed breasts after he allegedly slept with the wife of one his neighbours.

Mutua, according to the report, began growing the breasts that have now become saggy, in 2015 after several warnings from the neighbour to desist from having affairs with his wife fell on deaf ears.

The report has it that Mutua confessed to developing sagging breasts after ignoring the warning as he is now seriously looking for a cure for his condition and is of the view that the husband of the woman he was sleeping with decided to punish him through spiritual means.

Mutua who once worked as a chef at a hotel in Westlands, told reporters that his services were terminated in early 2015, when he began developing the breasts after he started sleeping with the woman, and he began selling fruits and vegetables within Westlands to sustain his family.

On how the breasts started growing, Mutua said he felt an unusual sensation on his chest and before he knew it, his breasts became enlarge and has been growing since then, forcing him to wear a bra and over-sized jackets to hide the bulge.

He further confessed that the first time he slept with his neighbour's wife, he was drunk and was lured into the act by the woman who had visited him before seducing him.

After the first encounter, Mutua continued, the married woman became more aggressive and would pick him from work or even from his mother’s house for sex.
