FLOYD MAYWEATHER SAYS FIGHT WITH MCGREGOR 'ABSOLUTELY' WILL HAPPEN

In practically the same breath, Floyd Mayweather made a potential fight with Conor McGregor sound like a sure thing and an open question.
The former welterweight and super welterweight champion joined Showtime to talk about that very fight on Friday, and fight fans certainly will be intrigued by Mayweather's comments:

It's really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don't know, as of right now. As of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely.

Asked whether the fight would be a boxing match or an MMA fight, Mayweather dismissed the idea of entering the Octagon:

We're the A-side, of course. It has to be a boxing match, because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand-up guy. So I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a tough fight for me. We really don't know as of right now, but there's been a lot of talk, and hopefully we can make the fight happen.

Mayweather also refused to say that he would dominate McGregor in the ring:

He’s no pushover. One thing about Conor McGregor, he’s no pushover. He fell short in his last bout, but a true champion can always bounce back. So that’s a guy that I can’t overlook. But no numbers -- we haven’t picked a venue, we haven’t talked about money yet.

Mayweather retired from boxing with a 49-0 record after defeating Andre Berto in September 2015, but his company recently applied for trademarks surrounding a possible 50th career fight.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has made it very clear that if he steps back into the ring, his potential money will be for at least $100 million
