WOMAN FINED $250 AFTER SHE GOT INSIDE A ZOO TO PET A TIGER

A woman who was bitten by a tiger after she got inside a zoo in Nebraska to go and pet the wild animal has pleaded guilty to trespassing.

Jacqueline Eide admitted the charge on Monday on Omaha and was fined $250 and ordered to pay court costs.

Prosecutors dropped two other misdemeanour charges as part of a plea deal.

The 33-year-old got into Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo following a social function on Halloween last year.

Authorities said Eide was bitten by an 18-year-old Malayan tiger called Mai when she reached into the animal's exhibit.

Police said Eide acted aggressively and appeared to be intoxicated when officers were called to Creighton University Medical Center to deal with a disturbance.

She was treated for "severe trauma" to her hand, according to a police statement.
