| Lai Mohammed Nigeria's Minister of information and culture |
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has expressed high hopes that Resident Information Officers (RIOs) would perform effectively in the discharge of their duties in order to close up any gap in the process of gathering and disseminating information.
The Minister, while speaking at a press briefing with the RIOs in Abuja, described the roles of the RIOs in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as critical, urging them to avail themselves of all the contemporary publicity avenues to publicise the activities of the Federal Government.
“As Resident Information Officers, We are the centre point of all MDAs, hence, we cannot afford to fail.
“The challenge before us as Federal Government Information Managers, therefore, is to ensure that we keep Nigerians duly informed of the activities of Government and getting feedback from the people using all our professional skills,” he urged.
He accentuated that the RIOs must regard themselves as catalysts of change so as to drive the Federal Government’s change agenda.
While describing the RIOs as field officers of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, he advised that they align their activities and programmes with that of the various MDAs where they are deployed.
