US DONATES $11MILLION EQUIPMENT TO ENHANCE FIGHT AGAINST BOKO HARAM

The United States has donated $11 million mine-resistant and armour-protected vehicles to the Nigerian Army to enhance anti-terrorism war.

This was revealed in a statement issued by the Public Affairs section of the Consulate-General in Lagos on Wednesday.

The vehicles valued at $11 million, would be handed over to the military at the Army’s 9th Bri- gade Parade Ground, Ikeja Army Cantonment in Lagos.

The statement reads: “The US is pleased to donate 24 mine-resistant, armour-protected (MRAP) vehicles valued at $11 million to Nigeria’s military authorities.

“The equipment donation represents part of the continuing US commitment to Nigeria and its neighbours to counter Boko Haram’s senseless acts of terror and promote regional security.” it said.

Meanwhile, the U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, had earlier noted Washington’s commitment to assist Nigeria in its fight against Boko Haram.
