DR. MIKE OMOTOSHO is a man of several parts. He is a Scholar,
well-grounded Pharmacist, a distinctive politician, an astute businessman and a
TRUE altruist. He is a studious man with a heart of gold. Even when uninvited,
wherever he goes, the vestige of his positive impact on many lives remains
indelible.
He has served in various capacities in leadership both at the
national and international level. He was a governorship candidate at the 2015
general elections in his state, Kwara.
Dr. Mike currently serves as a Rotary District Governor,
Rotary District 9125. Before now, he has served as a District Governor Nominee
Designate, District Governor Nominee, and District Governor Elect. He believes
his position as a Rotary District Governor is a TRUE CALL to service of
humanity.
His humanitarian strides are testimonials to his undiluted
benevolence. It was revealed recently that he has donated over $250,000 to
Rotary International!
However, the gallant Mike Omotosho, who obviously decided not to be
daunted by his background, committed himself to sheer erudition.
He graduated from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
in the year 1991. He went on to acquire post
graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Lagos, and a PGD in
Veterinary Pharmacy from Harper Adams University College, Shorpshire, UK in
2005.
Dr. Mike has a Masters certificate in Supply Chain Management
from University of San Francisco, Certificate in Medicine Information from University
of Cape Town, South Africa, and an MBA from Business School Netherlands. He acquired
his Ph.D in Professional Ethics from Trinity College Seychelles in Year 2013.
He is a product of Harvard Business School, Boston, USA in the High Potential
Leadership Programme. This conspicuously attests to his eloquence, academic
brilliance and intellectual sagacity.
Mike Omotosho Interned as a Pharmacist with Pfizer, Lagos between
1991 and 1992. He worked as a Consultant Pharmacist in Mobil Oil, Lagos from
1993 to 1996, and Registration Pharmacist in Reckitt & Coleman, Lagos between 1996 and
1998. Mike was a Managing Partner at Psy-khe from 1998 to 2007, before moving
to CHAN Medi-Pharm as Head of Programmes & Advocacy.
The simple but detailed man founded Sustainable Health
Initiative (SHI Logistics) in 2010 to strengthen mechanism for the promotion of
sustainable healthcare delivery in Nigeria. He is also the Chief Oversight
Officer of SHI Foundation with Global Fund, USAID, and Society for Family Health
etc as partners.
BIG MIKE is a member of several professional bodies and
associations including Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Chartered Institute
of Purchasing & Supply, Project Management Institute (Lagos & San
Francisco Chapters), Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institute of
Public Management, Association of Operations Management, American Association
of Healthcare Executives, Harvard University Healthcare Club, Cranfield University
Procurement Leaders Fellowship, Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Toastmasters
International, and Rotary International. The SHI Foundation has helped to
improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria and significantly contributed to
reducing the prevalence of malaria, pneumonia, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and other
diseases around the country, with over 2,500,000 people so far benefitting from
the Foundation’s programmes since its establishment.
He also set up Mike OMOTOSHO
FOUNDATION to lessen poverty and empower the youths through training and
community development programmes. The Foundation has trained over 200 rural community members on vocational skills and provided
N10 million micro credit scheme to empower 300 women to start small businesses. 500
youths from different Local governments in Kwara State were also trained on employability
skills, 150 indigent students from primary and secondary schools are also on scholarship
scheme from the Foundation. In August 2014 the Foundation carried out medical mission in 12
communities in four Local governments within Kwara State to provide free diagnosis,
expert medical advice, and distribute free drugs, wheel chairs, and free mosquitoes nets. Over
5,000 community members benefited
from the programme.
In October, 2015, The Mike Omotosho Foundation International
Scholarship (MOFIS) offered tuition waivers to 10,000 qualified Nigerian
students who want to study undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Cyprus,
Malaysia, India and Russia.
Furthermore, Mike Omotosho Foundation and the
Alliance for Smiles, based in the United States of America are co-sponsors of
the cleft surgery for 100 children programme being financed by the Kwara state
government in collaboration with the Rotary International. The programme, which
commenced on January 10, 2016 at the General Hospital, Taiwo road, Ilorin,
Kwara state is slated to end on January 23, 2016.
The Mike
Omotosho Foundation has also announced her inaugural annual lecture series for
January 14, 2016, with the theme - MEDDLING FOR IMPACT: MAKING POVERTY
ERADICATION OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY.
This event is
set to host The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, as the Special
Guest of Honour, to be chaired by Gen M.I. Wishishi, and has the Kaduna State
Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as Key note speaker and Roberts Orya, the
MD/CEO of NEXIM BANK as lead discussant. The event is scheduled for January 14,
2016, at Umar Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja, from 10am to 1pm.
Dr. Mike is a recipient of over 48 national and international
awards including Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Young Pharmacists Platinum Award 2008,
Excellence in Leadership Award from Unity Toastmasters 2010, Meritorious
Service Award, Rotary Club of Abuja Metro 2012, Rotary International Four
Avenues of Service Award 2006, Rotarian of the Year Award 2007, National Merit
Award winner from all Nigerian Rotaract Clubs, Bequest & Paul Harris
Society and Benefactor of Rotary Foundation, All African Student Union Hall of
Fame 2013, Toastmasters International 2013-2014 Best District Governor
Worldwide, Kwame Nkruma Leadership Award 2013, Project Management Excellence
Award Accra 2014, he is one of only six Nigerians as members of the Arch C.
Klump Society, and First African to have a Termed Gift of The Rotary
Foundation.
Dr. Mike Omotosho's passion about touching lives and his desire
to help the underprivileged and
make a positive impact in the lives of others is a
testimonial to his mantra ‘Meddling For Positive Impact.'
His passion to better
the lives of many, influenced his active participation in Humanitarian organizations
and the setting up of both SHI and Mike Omotosho Foundations. He believes that
the true wealth of a man can only be measured by the number of lives he has
impacted positively.
For over a decade Mike remains a dedicated and inspiring
Rotarian. He has significantly contributed to the widespread distribution of sustainable
healthcare delivery especially in intervention areas as it relates to reversing
Malaria, Pneumonia, HIV/AIDS, etc, impacting over 2,500,000 Nigerians!
One cannot possibly count the number of lives DR. MIKE
OMOTOSHO has impacted positively, from his numerous medical missions to
empowering women, several youth empowerment programmes, educating villagers and
giving help to the helpless and hope to the hopeless – He is just too fabulous!
Without any ounce of doubt whatsoever, positively impacting
lives is the real reason for BIG MIKE’s existence!
